The Chairman’s New Year Message
Greetings to all South Sudanese,
As we enter a new year, it is imperative that we reflect on the challenges our nation has faced and the urgent need for change. Our people have endured years of insecurity, poverty, illiteracy, and underdevelopment, and it is high time we come together to bring about a transformation. The current leadership, under the helm of Salva Kiir and his colleagues, has failed to deliver on the promises made during our liberation struggle.
Despite the sacrifices made by countless South Sudanese, our nation continues to grapple with instability and a lack of progress. The people’s aspirations for a prosperous and peaceful South Sudan have been overshadowed by corruption, mismanagement, and a disregard for the welfare of our citizens. It is evident that a new direction is needed, one that prioritizes the well-being of the people and addresses the root causes of our nation’s challenges. We cannot afford to let our struggles go in vain; it is time for change, a change that will liberate our people from the shackles of insecurity, poverty, illiteracy, and underdevelopment.
As we look ahead to the 2024 elections, it is imperative that we recognize the power we hold as citizens to effect change through our votes. It is time to break free from the grip of the current cartel that has been looting our beloved nation for far too long. We need leadership that is committed to dismantling the existing system of corruption and putting the welfare of the citizens at the forefront of their agenda. This means electing individuals who prioritize the needs of the people over personal gain or the interests of a select few. Our nation deserves leaders who will work tirelessly to create a fair and just society, where opportunities are accessible to all and where the prosperity of the people is the ultimate goal. By voting for such leaders, we can pave the way for a brighter future and ensure that the voices of the people are heard and respected.
The theft of our land by our neighbors is not just a territorial dispute; it is an assault on our national identity and heritage. It is an affront to our forefathers who fought valiantly to establish and protect our borders. The encroachment upon our borders by our neighboring countries has not only undermined our sovereignty but also compromised our national security. We cannot allow this injustice to persist any longer. It is high time we elect leaders who possess the courage and determination to reclaim what is rightfully ours. Our nation’s history is replete with instances of resilience and the ability to overcome adversity. Now, more than ever, we need leadership that will unite our people, strengthen our resolve, and tirelessly pursue the restoration of our stolen land.
I call upon each and every one of you to rally behind the People’s United Forum as we embark on a journey towards a brighter future. As we bid farewell to the challenges and uncertainties of the past year, let us embrace the opportunities that lie ahead with renewed vigor and determination. The People’s United Forum is committed to fostering unity, progress, and prosperity for all, and we cannot achieve this without your unwavering support.
As we celebrate Christmas and welcome the New Year, let us reflect on the values that bind us together as a nation. It is through collective action and collaboration that we can overcome the hurdles that stand in our path. Together, we can build a society that values inclusivity, fairness, and justice. I extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you, and I urge you to join hands with us in shaping a future that is brighter and more promising for all.
Happy Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
Dr. Gai Chol Paul,
Chairman
